CISL Hunt for Gold Winners

Congratulations to the U10 Division 1 boys who won Gold in the CISL Hunt for Gold this past weekend.  As well, congratulations to the U10 Division 2 girls who won Bronze in the CISL Hunt for Gold in the intermediate division and defeated HCU in the final game 2-1!

Annual General Meeting

The 2010 Annual General Meeting for Scotia Soccer Club will be held on Tuesday, October 26 from 7-9pm.  October 28 will be an alternate date, in case of cancellation.  Ballots will be handed out to every adult in attendance for a chance to win one of twelve Scotia vests, which will be given away that evening!  Elections will take place for 5 Board positions for two-year terms, Vice-President, Secretary, Member at Large, Two directors for - competitive and youth recreational programs.

April  27, 2010: The U18 boys team is looking for more players.  Please contact the registrar immediately, if you are interested in playing on this team.  It plays in the competitive league, but will be made up of both recreational and competitive players.

April 22, 2010:  Missing Your Cleves' Discount card? If you did not pick up your Cleves' discount card at registration, and you are in the Fall River area, you are able to pick one up at the Club's Storage space, when the building is open.  Just go upstairs past Chef Jeff's and  the next door on the left is the storage space.  There you will find a bag of discount cards hanging from the door knob.  Please help yourself to a card.  You will not be able to obtain your 20% discount or your 30% discount on Cleves' Scotia Days, without a card!  If you are a team official and wish to pick them up for your team, there are enough in the bag to supply your team with cards.  If you have any questions, please email the Club.

April 13, 2010:  Players who have been selected for U8 Academy, Under 10 Competitive and U12 A will also belong to Scotia Academy and will receive skills training at this higher and more intense level.  Membership to the Academy is required, when selected for these teams.  An Academy registration form must be completed for each Academy year.  The program runs in semesters, and the next semester will be a 3/4 combination for $150.  If you have not already completed your Scotia Academy registration, please download a form from the left menu (forms), submit payment for the fee and mail to the address on the form. Academy cheques may be postdated for May 1.  If you have more than one child in Academy, remember the second and subsequent players are one-half price.  For additional information on the Academy refer to the side menu.

April 13, 2010:  U16 girls A team is now posted.  Please review the Team Roster page frequequently for updates, as we will no longer be notifying on the main page, when rosters are up.  This also applies to recreational youth teams.As Mini and Under 10 rec teams are placed, they will show in their specific sections.  Currently, the information on these age group is 2009 teams.

April 9, 2010:  We have decided to waive the late fee in anticipation of acquiring more registrations.  We are in need for recreational youth players to fill teams at most levels.  If you are interested in playing on a team in the under 12 to under 16 age group in recreational for boys or girls, please contact the Registrar immediately.  Teams have to be in place by April 14 (that is next Wednesday!)  We will continue to accept registrations for U3-U8 mini levels and U10 recreational for several more weeks.  Remember, the late fee has been waived for this season!

April 9, 2010:  Cleve's VIP Cards are now available!  In order to get your 20% discount at Cleves, please contact us immediately to arrange to pick up your VIP card.  We will also be distributing them at tryouts. During Scotia Days at Cleves, you will receive 30% off your puchase when using your VIP discount card!  Scotia Days at Cleves Source for Sports is April 29, 30 and May 1!  Team orders will receive a 50% discount throughout the season.  The Club will also receive credits towards purchases (eg. nets and balls) from each of your purchases.  Please mention that you are with Scotia Soccer Club when you use your VIP discount card!

April 7, 2010: All the U12 boys tier 2A are invited to return to the second tryout on Friday at 6pm.  If you missed the first tryout, it is not too late to be still considered for the A team.  Please attend the Friday tryout session.

Congratulations to the Senior Women A Division 2 teams!  Team Melmac - Toros #1 won Gold, and Team Kidson #2 won Silver! 

March 26: 2010:  Final local walk-in Registation will be held on Sunday, March 28 from 12:30-3pm at the LWF Hall, Fall River.  Additional walk-in registations will be held in Halifax during tryouts for the competitive teams.  Registrations are accepted by mail, and should be received by April 14  in order to accommodate players on teams.  Late registration fees apply after April 11.

March 26, 2010:  Good luck to out Tier 1 teams who will be in play offs this weekend!  U13 girls, U14 boys and girls, U16 girls and U18 boys.

March 23, 2010:   Walk-in Registration this evening 7:00-8:30pm.  LWF Hall, Fall River (near the entrance to Fall River Village).

March 16, 2010:  Scotia Soccer Club is pleased to announce the expansion of the existing under 4 program to include children who are not only turning four in the current year, but to include those who are turning three years of age this year!  This is a parent and tot program that is available once a week during the summer season. Parents should be ready to participate with their child, wearing comfortable clothing and proper footwear. Children require shin pads, soccer socks and preferably cleats, although runners are acceptable at this level. The program is held at Ash Lee Jefferson Elementary School, in Fall River on Saturday mornings.

March 15, 2010:  Scotia Soccer Club is currently accepting applications for coaches for Under 14 to Under 18 in both boys and girls.  If you are interested, please download a coach registration application/form and fax to the number on the form.  There are openings on both competitive and recreational/developmental teams.

March 12, 2010:  IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING LATE FEES.  Late fees have been extended from March 31 to April 11.  After April 11, a $25 service charge will be applied to all players, excluding mini and seniors.  This allows for registration at tryouts, seniors coming back from university, and new mini players.  By April 15, teams for youth, senior and competitive under 10, must have their minimum number of players for submission to the league.

March 12, 2010:  If you are 18 years of age or over, and would like to give up a few hours of your time to volunteer at Scotia Soccer Club Registration on Tuesday March 23 and Sunday March 28 we want to hear from you!   We are currently looking for 3 spots to be filled for the registration desk.  Tuesday set up time is 6:30 pm, with registration starting at 7pm running until 8:30.  That is one two hour shift of which we need one additional person.  You will share this table with two other experienced volunteers.  Sunday's session set up is at noon, with registration starting at 12:30 and continuing until 3pm.  We need two people for a 2.5 hr shift.  You will be trained during the time before registration starts, and there will be experienced volunteers around to answer any questions.  We only ask that you bring a stapler, if you can!  Staples we provide!  This would be a great job for a student, who wants to beef up their scholarship applications with some volunteer experience!  No soccer experience required!

February 12, 2010:
Summer registration fees are now in place.  Registration forms are now available for download from the side menu, under "forms."  Registration may be done by mail, through a walk-in registration or at a competitive tryout session. Walk in registrations have been scheduled for the following dates:
Tuesday, March 23 7:00-8:30 pm
Sunday, March 28 12:30-3 pm
Location:  LWF Hall, 843 Fall River Road
Tryouts will be held at the indoor facility in Halifax.  The times and dates will be finalized next week.  There will be a $20 tryout fee/player. Players who wish to tryout for a Tier 1 team, must register and tryout with Suburban FC.  Registrations will not be transferred from Suburban FC to Scotia.  Players must register directly with Scotia to tryout for a competitive 2A team, in the event that they do not make a team at Suburban FC. Due to insurance requirements, all players must be registered prior to trying out.  Competitive teams will be selected in the following categories, under 10 Competitive, under 12A and B, under 14A, under 16A and under 18.  Recreational/Development teams will be offered in the following categories, under 10 Rec, under 12C, under 14B and under 16B.  The under 18 recreational level generally plays in the competitive league and if numbers permit, additional teams will be offered to accommodate players at the recreational level.  Under 4 to under 8 represents the Tim Bits mini program. Day time skills are included for all players in their registration fees, with the exception of the Academy players, whose training fees are extra.
There is a $25 late charge after March 31.  After April 15, additional teams cannot be submitted to the league, so it is important that players are registered prior to this date so they can be accommodated on teams.  

February 10, 2010:  A Special General Meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 9, 7:30-9:00pm, at the LWF Hall in Fall River, to present changes in the Scotia Soccer Club by-laws with regards to the new Suburban District and Suburban FC Tier 1 Club.  To review the by-law changes, please select the links from new and old.

February 10, 2010:  Scotia is currently accepting applications for coaches for the 2010 summer season.  Please select the coaches registration/application form from the left menu and complete and submit as soon as possible.  Returning coaches must complete these forms for each season.   All coaches and assistant coaches must be registered with Soccer Nova Scotia, necessitating the completion of forms each season for ALL coaching staff.  New managers must complete a form as well, for club purposes.  Please note that assistant coaches and managers are chosen after teams are in place.  Scotia offers teams in the Senior B, Ladies 7-aside, youth CISL Tier 2 program in both competitive and recreational/developmental, Academy and mini recreational levels. A full slate of programs for children born in 2006 and later. Tryouts and registration times will be posted shortly.  Tier 1 and Senior A programs are now offered by Suburban FC. February 5, 2010:  Suburban FC is now accepting applications for coaching positions for the summer 2010 Regional Tier 1 Program. If you are interested in coaching, please complete the attached application. Please refer to Suburban FC's  website for additional information on programming.

January 10: 2010:  Starting in the Spring of 2010, the Tier 1 information will be found on  Suburban FC's new website. 
 
January 7: 2010:    Soccer Clubs Unite - New District and Tier 1 Club formed.  It is with great excitement that Scotia Soccer Club, East Hants Soccer Association,  Sackville United Soccer Association and Bedford Soccer Association announce the launch of a new amalgamated district. FULL STORY....

January 4, 2010:   Effective immediately the timeline on insurance claims has changed.   Soccer NS players have only 4 weeks after an injury to begin the process.  This new timeline is considerably shorter than previously.  Questions about insurance claims (new or outstanding) can be directed to Janice at 445-0265.  The new form can be found under forms in the left menu.
